In the past brake pads were available in two basic compounds, fast road and racing.

Nowdays, it is a common occurrence that everyday cars are taken on track to be driven to their full potential and therefore the TAROX range of brake pads has changed accordingly.

A variety of different compounds are available based on the intended use of the car bearing in mind that the usual trade off is comfort vs performance. Broadly speaking the increase of performance is closely followed with the augmentation of noise so there is little point in fitting high performance pads when the car is mostly driven in congested traffic. Likewise having a "spin" on a race track with some fast road pads can be embarrassing and even dangerous because they have been designed to work in a law abing context where speed limit are enforced and comfort is an essential element.
