UPGRADE

UPGRADE

Fitting a TAROX upgrade kit will give you amazing braking performance and total confidence. By matching the multi-piston calipers to the discs, problems such as disc failure, deformation and vibration are eliminated.
In most cases TAROX kits contain 2 brake calipers, two brake discs, two adaptor brackets, 1 set of brake pads, 1 set of brake lines. Rear kit using original equipment calipers consists of two brake discs and two adaptor brackets.

Main Kit components
  • TAROX Calipers
  • Brake kit discs
  • Brake kit pads
Main Kit components
TAROX Calipers Tarox offer a variety of calipers to suit various applications and customer requirements. In order to choose the most appropriate specification calipers for each brake conversion kit Tarox adhere to the following guidelines
Piston Number
In principle the more the better, the benefit in having multi pistons can be summed up as follows:
1) Perpendicularly distributed pressure on the pads, resulting in more even wear of the brake pad.
2) Smaller pistons compared to those used on traditional calipers work perfectly parallel to the piston chambers, thus avoiding wear and loss of brake fluid
3) Increased cooling action of the pads, due to more airflow behind the pad's back plate.
4) Less stress factor on the caliper itself.
5) More clamping action resulting in more braking power due to the presence of more pistons.
6) Firmer pedal
All Tarox calipers for road applications have at least 6 pistons.

Piston Size
The diameter of the pistons in the calipers are specific to each application to take into account the car's master cylinder. Fitting a Tarox kit does not involve the replacement or the modification of other brake components (e.g. master cylinder, servo) and does not interfere with electronic devices like the ABS and SBS.

Caliper Colour All Tarox racing calipers come with light grey hard (450 Wickers) anodising for maximum life. Colour anodised calipers (Gold Yellow, Race Red and Tarox Blue), are available at extra cost, although more glamorous looking, they demand more care and attention and do not deliver the same durability as the grey anodised calipers.

Maintenance All TAROX brake calipers were designed to be used without need to be periodically serviced. The way each piston works in the chamber and the use of O-rings to keep out the dirt, dust and other agents does not require the use of dustcaps. It is not advised to dismantle the calipers for service like other calipers available in the market. In the unlikely case a caliper needs servicing this can be returned to the Tarox factory in Italy which will carry out the service.

Brake kit discs In general terms Tarox brake kit discs can be either single piece discs or two piece discs with alloy hub.
The former are usually part of the smaller brake kits not exceeding 300mm, thus helping to keep down the cost of the brake kit. Brake kit discs are designed to make sure that the swept area of the disc breaking surface is covered by the caliper for maximised brake performance. For brake conversions featuring discs larger than 340mm, Tarox has made sure that there is the balance between optimum use of the brake surface and weight saving.
Brake kit discs feature as standard the F2000 facing, featuring 7-9 curved grooves. As an option the Sport Japan (cross drilled & grooved) or D95 (cross drilled) facing is available although Tarox do not recommend drilled discs as they can be noisy and prone to crack.

Brake kit pads Tarox brake calipers have been designed to host large brake pads or - in the case of the B350, B400 calipers - 4 smaller pads in each caliper.
Each kit is fitted with Rally .113 pads as a standard, which deliver a good compromise between performance and comfort.
If it is intended to use the kit for other use it is strongly recommend to advise Tarox when placing the order as below:

Intended UseCompound Advised
Fast Road.113 (Rally) .401 (Rally +)
Fast road and intensive track day.114 (Corsa) .501 (Corsa +) .115 (Sintered)

Using the kit on racing cars
Most TAROX brake conversion kits are perfectly suitable to be used on both road and race track without any change other than the brake pads. However for car used exclusively or prevalently on racetrack it is essential to inspect regularly all the components for wear and fatigue to make sure that the system efficiency is not affected. TAROX technical department (engineering@tarox.com) will be happy to give advice as to how make the most of the kit in any kind of competition.

Brake conversion kit can be divided into three categories
1. Compact
In most cases these kits feature single piece discs whose size seldom exceeds 300mm. The use of smaller six pot calipers such us B25S, B27, B280 and BF 30 allow the kits to be fitted within 14"-15" wheels although in some instance with the assistance of spacers. Despite a price that suit even the tightest of budgets these kits have the same quality and finish as the more expensive TAROX applications.
2. Standard
Virtually all of these kits feature the B32 calipers in either its six and ten pot incarnations and discs whose size range from 300mm to 335mm, in most case with light weight alloy hubs. The particularly narrow shape of the B32 caliper make them ideal for car fitted with 16" and 17" wheels.
3 Grande
These include all the brake kits whose discs - mostly with alloy hubs - size ranges from 340mm to 400mm and features B34 GT 10 pistons and B350 & B400 12 or B400RT 16 pistons calipers. Visually beautiful and with stopping performance to match they are the perfect choice for all performance cars fitted with at least 18" wheels.

Homologation and certificates Tarox follow the quality standard of ISO UNI EN 9001. Most of Tarox production including the majority of its conversion kit has the TÜV approval.
Tarox is in constant liaison with the relevant certifying authorities to renew its quality certification and to update the TÜV approval for its most recent production. For most updated information about TÜV approval, including a scan of the actual TÜV certificate, e-mail sales@tarox.com
