High Performance Automotive Brake Systems

TAROX brake kits are always tailored to the vehicle, offering drivers improved braking across all aspects of driving whilst maintaining a firm usable pedal.

It’s hard to imagine a tuning and modified car scene without big brake kits, but in 1990 there wasn’t. TAROX founder Gianni Taroni wanted to offer a ‘total braking solution’ for drivers of performance cars on the road; back then racing kits existed, but just for racing. Gianni used his experience in racing, engineering expertise and passion for driving to create brake kit 001 and where better to start than the legendary BMW E30 M3. Our caliper technology has moved on significantly since then, but the philosophy of the TAROX brake kit remains the same.

The TAROX brake system philosophy

  • Not an off-the-shelf brake kit. These are tailored brake conversions
  • Each component is built and tested in-house at our Italian factory
  • Developed on the car, tested on the road
  • Offer increased performance with no loss of drivability
  • Maintain or improve pedal feel
  • Decrease crucial un-sprung weight

Today we produce performance aftermarket brake systems that fall into four different market sectors, all of which follow the TAROX philosophy.

What our brake systems do

TAROX brake kits are always tailored to the vehicle, offering drivers improved braking across all aspects of driving whilst maintaining a firm usable pedal. TAROX kits also offer a decrease in crucial un-sprung weight and, very often, due to the slim profile of the calipers, fit inside an OEM wheel.

How we do it

All TAROX big brake kits feature calipers machined from the highest quality billet alloy and each caliper is built and tested by hand at our Italian factory. They can be specified with our standard hard anodised finish or custom anodised colours such as red, gold, green or blue. In most kits, calipers are combined with two piece discs with rotors machined from the finest quality European steel billet. These rotors are heat treated, faced, then hand finished, creating a perfectly flat braking surface. The bell of the disc is machined from the same high quality alloy as the calipers and is hard anodised for protection from the elements. Discs can be specified in F2000, Sport Japan, C83 or D95.

These are not an off-the-shelf brake kit. These are tailored brake conversions.

Evolving with technological advances

With the development of safety systems such ABS, adaptive braking, stability and traction control TAROX develops kits to work in harmony with all safety systems. When developing kits we use state-of-the-art live brake ‘mapping’ ECU plug-ins and pedal pressure sensors. With this we can achieve an accurate measurement of a car’s standard performance. These procedures allow us to gather data to ensure real improvements to performance, pedal feel and durability. TAROX tailors the size and number of pistons for every application, maximizing braking performance available from a vehicle’s master cylinder and brake servo without negatively affecting the feel of the brake pedal.

Tested to the limit

As of 2012, many TAROX kits carry a German Teilegutachten certificate. Testing subjects kits to grueling on road testing as well as bench testing. It’s our philosophy as a company to test. It gives assurance. It puts minds at rest. Not just to you as a customer but to us as a manufacturer. To governments across the world who want to ensure cars are safe and you are safe. Everything we do is tested. Sometimes to the absolute extreme – see details on our calipers burn freeze test which gives you an idea of how far we push our products.
