The best thing about being one of the first ever companies to build brake kits for use on the street is we were their when some of the now most legendary cars were being built. Some of these awesome cars from the 1990’s were definitely lacking in the braking department and it was models like the E30 M3 that became the genesis of our 6 piston brake systems. The idea seems simple now but for Gianni Taroni in 1992 this had not been done before. Racing level billet 6 piston calipers adapted to a road car hub paired with two-piece rotors while still fitting in original wheels.

One of TAROX’s early generation 6 piston caliper fittd behind the orginal BMW E30 M3 wheels. 310mm 2 piece rotors and a 6 piston caliper all in 16” was something new to the tuning industry. Up next would be cars like the VW Golf VR6 and Volvo 850 T5

As tuning culture thrived more and more amazing hot hatches and homologation specials were coming. Still very few manufactures spec’d thee cars with multi piston calipers, this led to a rapid growth in what we started to be called ‘Big Brake Kits’
For TAROX the goal with still clear, increase performance, keep the usability – no changing of mater cylinders, and clear the original wheel.
30 years on TAROX can full service any kit bought in the early days, while cars being bought today and being modified with period correct parts benefit from all the small advancements in technology 30+ years of building high performance brakes gives.

Not every car required the investment of a brake system, although TAROX designed brake kits for all of the top hot hatches from France, Germany and Italy it was much more common for these lighter cars that were predominately being used on the street to choose to keep the original calipers and upgrade both the brake pad and disc. TAROX range of brake discs became legendary. Outperforming rivals and becoming a must have upgrade. As then, all TAROX discs and pads are designed and manufactured in Italy to the highest standards, Heat treated, high carbon and perfect for the back road blast in a hot hatch.

TAROX C83 6 slot discs were the first to market and paved the way for aftermarket performance discs. 5 years later our infamous G88 40 groove disc was launched. G88 redefined what was possible form a brake disc. The narrow channels where highly effective at dissipating heat from the surface of the brake disc allowing the small discs found on many cars in the 90’s to cope with the heat generated when pushing the cars to the limit. Testing aftermarket products was common place through the 1990’s and 2000’s the wasn’t a test where the G88 was not at the top of the performance charts. As the market expanded and more companies moved in to performance discs TAROX launched the Sport Japan a ‘combi’ disc with both drills and grooves. Quickly cementing its place at the top and staying true to its design 30 years later

Many cars from this era have now earned true modern classic status, with values continuing to rise year after year. For these icons, TAROX offers an impressively comprehensive range of parts.
Our original brake kits remain available, now refined with subtle updates to meet today’s performance standards — including improved pad retention and, in many cases, upgraded floating disc designs.
Disc and pad upgrades also remain accessible and cost-effective, with popular models such as the Golf VR6, Calibra 4×4, and Delta Integrale still shipping daily. It’s a clear sign that the legacy TAROX built in the 1990s continues to resonate with enthusiasts who are proud to own and drive these exceptional cars.
